The Matrix 4: Release Date
The release date for The Matrix 4 was set for May 21, 2021, however, thanks to the Coronavirus pandemic, filming had to be placed on hold and therefore the release date was delayed and postponed by a full year to April 2022. It’snot sure when the filming will resume.
Filming began in San Francisco in February 2020, and a subsequent shoot was scheduled for Berlin in mid-March, when production was forced to pack up. Filming was initially expected to resume in Berlin in early July because the cast members had signed eight-week extensions.
This week, Reeves was spotted in Berlin, signaling that filming is back on target.
The Cast for Matrix 4
Keanu Reeves will return within the starring role as Neo, with Carrie-Anne Moss once more playing Trinity. They meet up with original Matrix director Lana Wachowski.
Also confirmed to get on board for the new film is Aquaman, the best Showman and Watchmen star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. As Variety reports, the actor, who also appeared within the Striking Vipers episode of Black Mirror), will play a “lead role” within the film, with some speculating that he will portray a young Morpheus.
There also are variety of rumours flying about on other members of the cast. control and Game Of Thrones actor Jessica Henwick is in talks to play a number one role, though there are not any specifics yet available.
iZombie actor Andrew Caldwell was also recently confirmed to hitch franchise newcomers Priyanka Chopra and Mindhunter star Jonathan Groff within the film.
Another name also in contention is Jada Pinkett Smith, who would return for the role of Niobe, who she played within the Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions.
Another actor confirmed to not be returning for the sequel, though. Hugo Weaving, who portrayed Agent Smith within the first three films, recently annopunced that he won’t be featuring since the filming clashed together with his starring role within the theatre production of The Visit.
What is The Matrix 4 about?
Plot details are currently unknown. However, it’s been rumored that a young Morpheus could appear within the movie.
During a quote obtained by Variety, Wachowski said, “Many of the ideas [sister] Lilly [Wachowski] and that I explored 20 years ago about our reality is even more relevant now. I’m very happy to possess these characters back in my life and grateful for an additional chance to figure with my brilliant friends.”
