The Vampire Diaries is an American vampire drama series which was developed and created by Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson from the book collection of the same title by L.J. Smith.
The Show follows a span of the love triangle between 2 vampires and one 17 year old girl Elena Gilbert. The show became an instant hit after its broadcasting on the CW on September 10, 2009.
Elena Gilbert and her friends are drawn to the world of Mystic Falls, where it has a history of vampires, werewolves, witches, doppelgangers and witches. Stephen Salvatore and Elena Gilbert relationship becomes complicated as his brother Damon Salvatore returns to town with an idea to bring back their old flame Katherine Pierce who looks exactly like Elena Gilbert.
Dama then falls in love with Elena and creating a love triangle. As the show continues, they are being attacked with many enemies and both the brothers are diligent to protect Elena.

Season eight of the show concluded in March 2017 airing 171 episodes in total and it did end up questioning many unanswered questions.
Back in around March 2016, CW itself confirmed the renewal of Season 8 and also that this season could be the final one.
However, many fans speculate about its return and even some news media of the likes of auto freak reported that Season nine could pick up from throughout the season finished.
Damon and Bonnie the witch may experience a few changes within the course of their life. In Season 8, Elena fall in love with Damon, and in the final episode, both become humans. The series did something different and new.
