The Get Down Season 2 will unfortunately not be renewed which is quite unusual for Netflix to do so especially after the show was widely praised.
The series is based on a hip-hop-themed drama that is set in the late 1970s in South Bronx section of New York City. It is one of the highest budgeted show with the 12-episode first season costing about $120 million.
Unlike Netflix, the creator of the show Baz Luhrmann is very confident and optimistic that the story will indeed continue.
He also told Vulture: “To be honest, we have already developed the opening of the next season.
The Get Down Season 2: Release Date
When will The Get Down return? Well no one knows exactly for now as there are no production going on right now for the second season.
Back on May 24, 2017, Netflix issued an announced that will break many hearts who re hardcore fans of the melodic series that they have decided to officially drop The Get Down for season 2.
Although the show got wide positive reviews ranging from the cast exhibitions, and storyline, there is no renewal updates of the series for the time being.
The Get Down Season 2: Plot
The Get Down series revolve around a rag-tag crew of teenagers who are nobodies with nothing on them and no one to shelter them. They take care and look out for each other armed only with verbal games and improvised dance steps with some magic markers and spray cans.
The second season is not renewed. So, there’s no plot for the series for now unless they renew it in the future.
The Get Down Season 2: Cast
If the show indeed get renewed for season 2, we expect the main cast to be back.
Justice Smith, as a rap tyro named Ezekiel; Daveed Diggs as Ezekiel’s older self. Jaden Smith as Marcus ‘Dizzee’ Kipling and Shameik Moore as Shaolin Fantastic who is The Get Down Brothers’ DJ and leader of the group.
Herizen F Guardiola as Zeke’s girlfriend Mylene Cruz. Skylan Brooks and TJ Brown Jr as Dizzee’s younger siblings and fellow Get Down Brothers Ra-Ra and Boo-Boo.
Why Netflix Canceled It
Netflix didn’t really issue a statement or give out the exact reason behind dropping it. One of the theories is the show budget which is a whopping $120 million for the first 12 episode.
The show also experienced such a significant number of challenges with the author additionally changed and the first season was also confronted by numerous deferrals.
