Detective Pikachu 2 is a sequel to the original movie. It revolves around Tim Goodman in search of his father Harry Goodman. Tim goes to the Ryme City where he meets a Pikachu who can speak and more importantly in English.
Together, they both work together and try to find his father’s disappearance and uncover the mystery behind it.
The movie ends with major cliffhangers with Pikachu to be dissolved for Harry to return. Because Harry was rebuilt with Pikachu and that explains why Tim could understand Pikachu.
So, now that since Detective Pikachu is no longer available or exist for that matter, who will appear in the next sequel?
For the moment, the show creators have not given any information regarding that matter.
Detective Pikachu 2 Release Date
Detective Pikachu was first aired in Japan on May 3, 2019, and in the United States on May 10, 2019. So, It took around three years to be released after the announcement was made,
If we are looking at a similar timescale, it would mean production starts in late 2020 if we are lucky and the filming got underway this year.
We’re probably looking at late 2021 at the earliest though and Warner Bros has an “Event Film” release slot that is currently free on February 2, 2021.
Detective Pikachu 2 cast Members: Who’s coming back?
Well, at the moment, there’s no official cast list for the sequel. But we can expect Justice Smith to be back to reprise his role as Tim Goodman and Ryan Reynolds as both voicing Detective Pikachu, and playing Tim’s father, Harry Goodman.
Other members we could see include Kathryn Newton as Lucy Stevens who is a journalist and Ken Watanabe as Detective Yoshida. who is a friend of Mr.Harry Goodman’s.
It was revealed at the end of the movie that the reason why Tim could hear Detective Pikachu was that Mewtwo had initially transferred Harry’s consciousness into Detective or simply Pokemon here to save him. With the danger gone, Mewtwo then restored Harry to his human form and Pikachu is back into his adorable “pika, pika” dialogue.
Plot
At the moment with no confirmation, we really don’t know how the sequel will play out or what form it will take, but we reckon it’ll be very much different to the first movie.

Since there was no post-credits scene on the first movie to tease for a sequel and how it can/may play out. We can only wait for the trailer to be released to have even the slightest idea for the sequel.
