Google Maps is a reliable platform to navigate around and find locations where you want to go. You can perform a 360° interactive panoramic views of streets along with real-time traffic conditions of a particular area, and route planning for traveling by foot, car, or bicycle, etc

You can access either via a web browser or through it’s dedicated Google Map app on your smartphones or tablets. You can check the traffic from your home to workplace or vice-versa and any other place in general.

Note: Make sure to save the location of your workplace or home on your device before checking the traffic condition to your home or workplace.

How to Save your Workplace or Home?

Either you are using an App or via a web-browser, it is very easy to save your Workplace or home on Google Maps.

Step 1: Open Google Maps and click on the hamburger icon from the top right corner.
Step 2: Select Your Places.
Step 3: Select either Work or Home. Enter your location and Save your workplace or Home.
Step 4: Enter your location and click on save to Save your workplace or Home.

How’s the Traffic on the Way to Work (Using Android and iOS App)

Note: Google Maps come pre-installed in most devices, but if it isn’t the case for you, you can install it from the App Store. It’s free BTW.

  • Open the Google Maps on your Android/iOS Smartphone or Tablet device.
  • Sign in with your Google account, If you haven’t signed in yet and saved your home or workplace.
  • Next, click the hamburger icon located at the lower-right corner and click on the Your Places menu.
  • Select either Work or Home.
  • Click on Directions to find the easiest and fastest route for your location.
  • Next, tap on the Stack icon and select Traffic.
  • Check Traffic to home / Work
  • Now, the areas of the street will be shown in different colors to indicate the traffic level on the street.
  • Green = Light traffic.
  • Orange = Moderate traffic.
  • Red = Congested Traffic.

How to Check Traffic to Work or Home (Via Web Browser)

  • Open Google Maps.
  • In the “Search Google Maps” field, type either “Home.” If you haven’t set your home location, you will be prompted to enter your work address. Enter your Home location and set it.
  • Next, In the “Search Google Maps” field, enter “Work“. If you haven’t set your work location before, you will be prompted to enter your address. Set your work location.
  • Select your work or homeplace and click the Directions to display the route for your location.
  • Next, click the menu icon and select on Traffic.
  • Now, the streets will be indicated with different colors to indicate the traffic level on them.
  • Green = Light traffic.
  • Orange = Moderate traffic.
  • Red = Congested
